There’s no shortage of enthusiasm on the Prudential NW Longview team at Spell-ebration 3013, a fundraiser for the Altrusa charitable organization.

The Prudential Northwest Properties Longview branch showed their spirit and community support at the recent Altrusa of Cowlitz County Spell-ebration fundraiser.

Prudential NW Longview branch manager Lorre Jaffe said, “We all had a great time! It’s an annual sell-out event and a very worthy cause we’re happy to support.”

Our team, the Prudential Honey Buckets, whose motto was “we sell ’em better than we spell ’em” took first place in theme costume and third place overall in the adult spelling bee.

Altrusa of Cowlitz County is a dynamic, dedicated and diverse group of women dedicated to making their community a better place to live and work by helping others help themselves.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather at Mt Hood!

Once again, the sky was blue, the snow was fresh, Mt Hood was beautiful and a wonderful time was had by all at the 21st Annual Prudential Northwest Properties Ski Night!

Skiers, boarders and lodge-loungers all enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon and evening up at Mt Hood Meadows.

It’s always nice to bring family and friends together and meet new members of the Prudential crew at this annual event.

Big shout outs to Peggy Hoag, who hasn’t missed a Ski Night in the last 21 years! And to Dannie Walker, our Regional Team Leader in Central Oregon, for bringing a whole busload up from Bend!

We’re very proud to announce that Debbie Price, a Principal Broker in the Prudential Northwest Properties Gresham branch office, was named Realtor of the Year by the East Metro Association of Realtors! She has been active with EMAR for many years, including service as President of the organization, and has also served on the Oregon State Association of Realtors Board of Directors.

Debbie has been a real estate professional for 18 years and holds the e-Pro, Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource and Seniors Real Estate Specialist designations. In addition to selling new construction, resale homes, condos and townhouses, her passions include working with first time buyers and seniors who are downsizing or making a transition from their home to a retirement community. Over the years, Debbie has developed a wonderful network of resources to help her senior clients discover VA benefits and many untapped opportunities for support during their transitions.

The Joy of Giving

Though all of us contribute to our communities in different ways throughout the year, the holidays often illuminate the impact of extending simple gifts to others. That was the case when some of our branch offices reached out in the spirit of giving.

Our Hillsboro, Scappoose and Netarts branch offices collectively adopted a family through the local VA Clinic and Managing Principal Broker George Huertas shared this heartwarming story…

A local former soldier (a single dad with two children) didn’t know how he was going to (1) feed his children a Christmas meal, and (2) have any gifts for his 17 and 12 year old children. When the VA social worker approached them with our offer the father was ecstatic, as he was worried about providing any gifts for the children and told the social worker that he wanted us to just take care of the kids, not him.Holiday tree

The gift requests from the kids included some clothes, a xbox game, and if possible a laptop computer for the daughter who would be hopefully attending college next year. The Dad made no request for himself. After some digging by an astute social worker, he found that the Dad could use some gloves. Fortunately, our Pru crew was able to deliver enough food for several Christmas meals, six xbox games, a $500 Fred Meyer gift card, a laptop computer, and a new pair of gloves for Dad.

“The former soldier walked with a noticeable limp and was so appreciative,” says George. “He and I exchanged a few words as he fought back tears, which ultimately, was a battle he couldn’t win.”

In Longview, the Prudential Northwest Properties team delivered lovingly wrapped “Holiday Care Packages” for homeless and at-risk youth served through Transitional Youth. Each box contained items such as hand warmers, a hat & gloves, toothbrushes & toothpaste, socks, hot cocoa & hot cider packs, lip balm and granola bars; every day things we take for granted, but that a homeless youth would cherish.

These kinds of stories are what make the holidays so joyful. Thanks to everyone who played a role in brightening the holidays for others.
