Looking Out for Others Brings Rewards

Thomas Guitar is relatively new to the real estate business, but he’s got more than enough experience in the practice of helping others to ensure his success as a real estate professional. One of his good deeds was recently brought to our attention by a letter we received from an appreciative client.

The letter came about because Thomas lives across the street from a property that had been For Sale By Owner for a very long time. The home was vacant and in need of a little TLC. Over the course of several months, Thomas, like scores of other area real estate brokers, contacted the owner to offer his professional services to help sell the property and, like the other brokers, was not contracted to do so because the owner typically managed his own transactions.

So, with no motivation other than to help the owner try and sell his home and to be a good neighbor, Thomas took it upon himself to cut the grass on the property across the street.  It was a simple gesture, yet it made a large impact on the homeowner and ultimately resulted in an opportunity for Thomas to sell the home and earn a very happy client.

Here is an excerpt from the letter we received from Thomas’ client:

“I don’t usually hire a real estate broker for my transactions, but this time I decided to do so. All I can say is that I am extremely glad I did. The sale of our property had some special difficult circumstances and the buyer brought additional issues and demands which complicated matters immensely. Without Mr. Guitar’s efforts, there is no way this deal would have transpired at all. His professionalism and attentiveness made my wife and I feel that we had chosen well and were in very capable hands throughout the entire process. Though he did all of the work and handled everything for me, I felt involved. I felt that Thomas advised and represented us exactly correctly and I will enthusiastically recommend him and Prudential Northwest Properties to everyone I know, without reservation.”

Thomas reached out to help someone without expectation of anything in return and it resulted in earning a listing, selling a home, and gaining a client for life.     I am impressed Thomas saw past ‘the grass needs mowing’ to ‘How can I help?’ Even if this had not resulted in a transaction, Thomas by demonstrating sincere care provided two solutions: One to an issue encountered by an owner of a vacant house and two for the appearance of the neighborhood. Good Work!
