PRIMAL NUTRITION FARM-TO-TABLE DINNER & CHARITY GALA

SAT – This charity gala will benefit two non-profit organizations, the Savory Institute and Hunt Gather Grow Foundation. They both advocate strongly for animal welfare, holistic nutrition, healing and wellness. There is a 6 course farm-to-table dinner included, silent auctions, and a valuable swag bag for each attendee! Ecotrust Building in Portland.

BOURBON & BACON

SAT @ 7PM – Sip bourbon and taste bacon treats at the Bourbon and Bacon Fest at OMSI for age 21+.

MLK BREAKFAST

MON – Expect a keynote speaker at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast at the Hilton Hotel.

JRR TOLKIEN BIRTHDAY BASH

SAT – McMenamins Kennedy School. Elves, wizards, orcs and all others are invited to join in this all-day celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien, one of the 20th Century’s most influential authors. We’ll have live music, Willamette Radio Workshop broadcasting live, Hobbit-inspired food specials and more!  

PORTLAND BOAT SHOW

Through SAT – See the latest sailboats, sport boats, fishing boats, personal watercraft, and boating accessories at the Portland Boat Show at Portland Expo Center.

PORTLAND CENTER STAGE, ASTORIA: PART 1

 SAT through February 12 – A World Premiere! This monumental piece of American history will be told in two parts over the course of two seasons. Part One is about the journey to Astoria and Part Two is about the establishment of Astoria, the first permanent United States settlement on the West Coast.

APPALACHIAN MUSIC GATHERING

Through SUN – Hear traditional Appalachian-style string-band music at Old Time Music Gathering at the Tiffany Center.

EMILY DICKINSON PLAY

Through January 29 – Set in her Amherst home, The Belle of Amherst tells the story of reclusive poet Emily Dickinson through her words, poetry, diaries, and letters in Milwaukie. Discount tickets $10.

FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL

Through February 5 – Reel Music Festival screens new films and timeless classics with a music theme at Portland Art Museum.

FRIDAY DANCE PARTY

Through February 24 – Giant music videos, colorful lights, and pounding music await you at the ’80s Video Dance Attack in Lola’s Room or McMenamins Crystal Ballroom for age 21+. Discount tickets $6 for two people.

REPTILE SHOW 

SAT – See frogs, snakes, geckos, and other exotic creatures at Portland Metro Reptile Expo, with educational tables and vendors at the Holiday Inn on Columbia Boulevard. Discount tickets.

BRIDAL SHOW 

 SAT-SUN – Portland Bridal Show is billed as the state’s largest. It features fashion shows and wedding-service exhibitors at the Oregon Convention Center.

FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL

SAT-SUN – Winter Music Festival features performances, jam sessions, a pie-baking contest and sale, and an artisan fair with two dozen vendors in Florence.

MURDER MYSTERY

Through February 8 – Based on a novel by Agatha Christie, Murder on the Nile is a whodunit set on a honeymoon cruise down the Nile River at Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego. Discount tickets $16.

URBAN SCAVENGER HUNT
ALL MONTH  Smartphone clues lead you on a fun & engaging walking tour of the city. Clues start you in the heart of downtown at Pioneer Courthouse Square and will take you on a scavenger hunt through the Arts District, on a streetcar ride and among the famous food carts.

SHANROCK’S TRIVIOLOGY
ALL MONTH – Various Portland Locations: Triviology pub quizzes are free to play, last a couple of hours, and are composed of seven short rounds, giving teams instant gratification for their efforts. Team size can range from one to five players, with prizes for everyone on the winning team.

HAUNTED PUB TOUR
All Month – This spine-tingling ghost tour explores Portland’s historic Old Town District, a vibrant area with beautiful 1800’s buildings, cobblestone streets and a wicked past.

PORTLAND ESCAPE ROOMS
All Month THURS-SUNCedar Hills/Beaverton Locations: Real-life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit.

VANCOUVER METRO EVENTS

 

OPEN SATURDAY AT PEARSON AIRBASE
SAT – Free educational experience, Flight Simulator lab, vertical wind tunnel, a glider-building station, historic airplanes on-site for viewing, collections on display, and educational programs to propel students of all ages.

WATERCOLOR PAINTING WORKSHOP

SAT – Tamra Sheline will offer a monthly watercolor on Yupo workshop. This class will allow you to build on your skills in a fun relaxed atmosphere.

QUILTING OPEN WORKSHOP

FRI – Those quilters who love English paper piecing, or those who would like to learn, can join us on the second Friday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm to enjoy a few hours of stitching hexis and other shapes.
