FRI – Featuring tastings hosted by prestigious French-connected vintners and importers. LIGHTING OF MADDOX WOODS

Through December 31  Enjoy a magical walk down a lighted, accessible path through the woods and to the viewing platform on the Willamette River.

WILD ARTS FESTIVAL

SAT-SUN Celebrating nature in the work of regionally and nationally known artists and writers. Featured art includes the work of painters, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, woodworkers, glassblowers and more; authors include novelists, poets, photographers and writers of non-fiction. Benefiting the Audubon Society of Portland.

CRANKSGIVING

SAT – Treasure-hunt food drive—teams visit a list of stores and buy a list of items. Items are donated to Outside In, which serves homeless youth.

ORYCON 39

FRI-SUN – Oregon’s premier, fan run, annual science fiction/fantasy convention. Art Show, gaming, fan table, costume contest and much more!

 

THE TRAIN TO CHRISTMAS TOWN

Through December 28 – Based on the beloved children’s book, The Train to Christmas Town, this holiday ride recreates on board the story book tale that is sure to become a family favorite tradition! 75 minute train ride departing from Hood River.

FALL BREWERS DINNER

November 17 – A beer party in the Octagonal Barn—the quintessential fall gathering! Brewers will introduce their beers, which are paired with each course in this seasonal menu.

80’s VIDEO DANCE ATTACK

Every FRI & SAT – Dig out your neon mesh shirts, crimping iron and striped legwarmers to travel back to the 1980s! Classic music videos projected on giant screens complimented with a thumping sound system and light show, this dance extravaganza is sure to get the blood pumping!

FRI & SAT (All Month) – The Barrel Room lays claim to the longest running dueling piano shows in Portland. The show, which at times can get a “little cheeky,” isn’t just two players banging on pianos for five hours. They boast a Vegas style, request driven, interactive show complete with bits, games, sing-a-longs, comedy and some of the best players in the U.S.

URBAN SCAVENGER HUNT
ALL MONTH  Smartphone clues lead you on a fun & engaging walking tour of the city. Clues start you in the heart of downtown at Pioneer Courthouse Square and will take you on a scavenger hunt through the Arts District, on a streetcar ride and among the famous food carts.

SHANROCK’S TRIVIOLOGY
ALL MONTH  Various Portland Locations: Triviology pub quizzes are free to play, last a couple of hours, and are composed of seven short rounds, giving teams instant gratification for their efforts. Team size can range from one to five players, with prizes for everyone on the winning team.

GUIDED NATURE HIKES
EVERY DAY – Park guides lead nature hikes to explore the forest, stream ecosystems and natural history of the natural area. Tryon Creek State Park & more.

HAUNTED PUB TOUR
All Month – This spine-tingling ghost tour explores Portland’s historic Old Town District, a vibrant area with beautiful 1800’s buildings, cobblestone streets and a wicked past.

GEEKS WHO DRINK PUB QUIZ
ALL MONTH – Anyone can grab a deck of Trivial Pursuit cards and run a “trivia night.” Geeks Who Drink’s smartass quizmasters run fast-paced, interactive and beer-soaked pub quiz events all over Portland.

PORTLAND ESCAPE ROOMS
All Month THURS-SUN – Cedar Hills/Beaverton Locations: Real-life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit.

NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL

SAT – Share the annual celebration of Native American Indian Heritage Month with the native community. Discover and learn more about native cultures at the Water Center. Kids will have fun with hands-on crafts and activities.

HARVEST MARKET

SAT – Celebrate Fall with a special Harvest Market, just in time for your Thanksgiving Dinner!

CLARK COLLEGE JAZZ FESTIVAL

FRI The Clark College Jazz Ensemble performs their Fall Concert, with special guests from the Prairie High School Jazz Band. The concert is free to the public and is held in the Gaiser Student Center on the Clark College Campus.

FESTIVAL OF TREES
Through December 16 – Divine Consign will display beautifully decorated trees at their downtown Vancouver location, 904 Main Street. Their event will benefit Clark County non-profit organizations.

PORTLAND METRO RV SHOW

GHOST WALKS

FRI-SUN through October 29 – Stories have grown up about the Vancouver Barracks, stories of loneliness, fear and tragedy, all part of the darker aspects of military life. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you will be interested in the stories of the Vancouver Barracks’ past inhabitants.

GUIDED WALKS AT COLUMBIA SPRINGS
Through October 18 – Each guided walk consists of an easy stroll or tour with themes such as plants, animals, geology, local history, and the fish hatchery. These events are appropriate for all ages and no registration is required. Spots are available at a first come, first served basis to the first 30 visitors.

PORTLAND METRO WEEKEND EVENTS PLANNER
FOR SEPTEMBER 8-10, 2017
 
 
CARLTON CRUSH HARVEST FESTIVAL 
SAT – Enjoy terrific festival food from a variety of restaurants, sample a large selection of fine wines and craft beers from wineries and breweries throughout the area. Grape stomping competitions, lots of live music and Artist’s Market with many unique craft merchants.
CABARET
THURS-SUN through October 15 – Northwest-acclaimed Director, Ron Daum, continues Lakewood Theater Company’s 65th season with the audience-favorite production of Cabaret. Take your seat at the “perfectly marvelous” Kit Kat Klub in Kander and Ebb’s Tony-winning musical about cabaret performer Sally Bowles and American writer Cliff Bradshaw during the pre-WWII decadence of 1930s Berlin.
COLOR RUN
SAT – The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality. 
ART IN REAL TIME
THURS through September 17 – View contemporary art projects that bring artists and audiences together, creating a vibrant community through live performances, music, screenings, workshops, talks, and visual art installations. 
 
TIGARD STREET FAIR
SAT – This fun, safe community event includes over 160 vendor booths, all day music, a community stage, beer/wine garden, kids activities, face painting and more.
 
OREGON FALL HALF MARATHON
SAT Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and the 5k events are set in the heart of the Willamette Valley. 
 
SERBIAN FEST
SAT-SUN – A celebration of food, wine, dance and culture of the Serbian Orthodox people. Enjoy delicious Serbian food: BBQ, roast pig and lamb, desserts; live music, national dance, beer and wine, kid’s activities…and much more. 
 
CARE TO DANCE
SAT – Eat, drink, listen, watch, dance and enjoy! Fundraiser for Care Partners, one of Portland’s oldest and most distinctive hospice and palliative care providers.

Through September 24 – An intimate musical follows one couple through fifty years of love, quarrels and marriage. The touching story of two soul mates navigating the perils of life is set to a tuneful, charming score.

THURSDAY EARLY ESCAPE CONCERT SERIES
Thursdays through September 28 – A two-hour cruise featuring a different local, live band every Thursday afternoon. Enjoy a relaxing cruise down the Willamette River to help unwind after your week. A bistro plate and a full service bar are available for additional purchase on board.

MOVIES IN THE PARK
Through September 8 – Evening after evening, summer nights in Portland parks offer families and friends the perfect backdrop to renew connections. 12 week schedule with 41 movies at 40 sites around the city.

80’S VIDEO DANCE ATTACK
SAT – Grab your favorite 80’s outfit and head to Lola’s Room. Enjoy your favorite 80’s hits playing all night on their multiple giant screens.

DUELING PIANO SHOW
FRI & SAT (All Month) – The Barrel Room lays claim to the longest running dueling piano shows in Portland. The show, which at times can get a “little cheeky,” isn’t just two players banging on pianos for five hours. They boast a Vegas style, request driven, interactive show complete with bits, games, sing-a-longs, comedy and some of the best players in the U.S.

URBAN SCAVENGER HUNT
ALL MONTH  Smartphone clues lead you on a fun & engaging walking tour of the city. Clues start you in the heart of downtown at Pioneer Courthouse Square and will take you on a scavenger hunt through the Arts District, on a streetcar ride and among the famous food carts.

SHANROCK’S TRIVIOLOGY
ALL MONTH  Various Portland Locations: Triviology pub quizzes are free to play, last a couple of hours, and are composed of seven short rounds, giving teams instant gratification for their efforts. Team size can range from one to five players, with prizes for everyone on the winning team.

GUIDED NATURE HIKES
EVERY DAY – Park guides lead nature hikes to explore the forest, stream ecosystems and natural history of the natural area. Tryon Creek State Park & more.

HAUNTED PUB TOUR
All Month – This spine-tingling ghost tour explores Portland’s historic Old Town District, a vibrant area with beautiful 1800’s buildings, cobblestone streets and a wicked past.

GEEKS WHO DRINK PUB QUIZ
ALL MONTH – Anyone can grab a deck of Trivial Pursuit cards and run a “trivia night.” Geeks Who Drink’s smartass quizmasters run fast-paced, interactive and beer-soaked pub quiz events all over Portland.

PORTLAND ESCAPE ROOMS
All Month THURS-SUN – Cedar Hills/Beaverton Locations: Real-life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit.

VANCOUVER METRO EVENTS

SHORTY’S HARVEST CELEBRATION
FRI – Enjoy a variety of handcrafted beer from Mill City Brew Werks. Food will be offered for purchase, including Black Dog Hot Dogs and Southern specialties.

HEISEN HOUSE: SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Through September 29 – Enjoy summer concerts among the vines every Friday night at Heisen House Vineyards.

GUIDED WALKS AT COLUMBIA SPRINGS
Through October 18 – Each guided walk consists of an easy stroll or tour with themes such as plants, animals, geology, local history, and the fish hatchery. These events are appropriate for all ages and no registration is required. Spots are available at a first come, first served basis to the first 30 visitors.

VANCOUVER FARMER’S MARKET
SAT through October 29 – You’ll discover fresh and local produce, flowers, plants, baked goods, delicious food, pet treats, and accessories for yourself, home, or garden.

COLUMBIA TECH CENTER FARMER’S MARKET
THURS – A pet-friendly place where you can chat with people who have grown or made your purchase, grab a bite to eat, watch the kids play, and enjoy a wonderful, relaxing day.

OPEN SATURDAY AT PEARSON AIRBASE
SAT – Free educational experience, Flight Simulator lab, vertical wind tunnel, a glider-building station, historic airplanes on-site for viewing, collections on display, and educational programs to propel students of all ages.

BITE OF OREGON

TOUR DE LAB
SUN – 19 or 40-mile multi pub bicycle tour through Portland city limits that ends with a costume contest, beer and hotdogs. Benefits Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital.

OREGON FERMENTATION FESTIVAL
SAT – A family-friendly outdoor harvest festival of fermented foods and beverages. It’s the largest celebration of fermentation in the Pacific Northwest!

DAHLIA FESTIVAL
SAT-MON – View over 400 floral arrangements of dahlias, over 15,000 cut dahlia blooms on display, in our three indoor display rooms. This is the largest display put on by one grower anywhere in the United States!

VINEYARD JAM 2017
SAT – music and comedy festival, happening at Heathen Estate in Vancouver, WA. The comedy headliner is Tommy Chong, with other performers including Lowrider Band, Roger Fisher, Barracuda, Geoffrey Castle, Ukelele Ray, Adrian Xavier, and Coloso.

VANCOUVER WINE & JAZZ FESTIVAL
FRI-SUN – Featuring internationally-acclaimed jazz artists, 200 wines, 50 fine artists from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California; to local restaurants and commercial exhibitors.

SPIRIT TALES: WALKING TOURS AT THE VANCOUVER BARRACKS
Through SUN – Designed by local historian and author Jefferson Davis. Jeff served at the Vancouver Barracks for many years, and has first hand experience with both the spooky and ordinary history of the Vancouver Barracks. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you will be interested in the stories of the Vancouver Barracks’ past inhabitants.

RUSTY GRAPE: MOVIES ON THE LAWN
